From Million Dollar Advocates Forum

“Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a patented multiphase selection process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with independent research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis. The objective is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel. Since Super Lawyers is intended to be used as an aid in selecting a lawyer, we limit the lawyer ratings to those who can be hired and retained by the public.”
Lawyers are selected after completing four phases of the selection process:
(Formerly Awesome Attorneys)
“Earlier this year, we sent out correspondence to the leading attorneys and law firms in South Jersey in search of nominations for our annual Awesome Attorneys list. In addition, we also tasked our readers with going online and recommending the legal professionals they’ve had positive experiences with. The results were tallied and after applying a minimum number of votes to be considered for the list, the leading vote getters in each specialty were then vetted using public sources of information to verify peer recognition, professional achievements, experience, honorable accolades and more.
“Martindale-Hubbell facilitates secure online peer review surveys of lawyers across multiple jurisdictions and geographic locations. Reviewers are asked to assess their colleagues’ general ethical standards and legal ability in a specific area of practice. A confidential threshold number of qualified responses is required to achieve a Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review RatingsTM. The Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review RatingsTM appear in all formats of the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, in the online listings on martindale.com®, Lawyers.comSM, on the Martindale-Hubbell services, and on Martindale-Hubbell mobile `apps.”
“Recognition by Best Lawyers is based entirely on peer review. Our process is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.”
